Italian Citizens who have been living out of country for more than 12 months are entitled to import under duty free procedure Household Goods/Personal Effects within 6 months from the date of arrival into Itay. It is necessary for them to support Italian custom authorities with one of the following:
  • ORIGINAL CONSULAR DECLARATION (Certificato di reimpatrio Consolare) - Issued by Italian Consulates at Foreign Country prior to their departure to Italy.
OR
  • RESIDENCY CERTIFICATE - Issued by City Hall in Italy to mention date of departure from Italy , Foreign country of previous residency, date of new residency application. (above original documents will be kept by Italian custom authorities and will not be returned back to owner).
Foreign Citizens coming into Italy on a Work contract or to live here are entitled to import under duty free procedure Household Goods/Personal Effects within 6 months from the date of arrival into Italy. It is necessary for them to learn following steps and support Italian Custom Authorities with the following:
ORIGINAL RESIDENCY APPLICATION RECEIPT - Procedure to be followed to obtain this document:
  1. VISA (Issued by Italian Consulates Abroad) is needed in order to enable a foreign citizen to apply for the Permit to Stay, after arrival into Italy.
  2. PERMIT TO STAY (PERMESSO DI SOGGIORNO) issued by Italian Police (Questura - Foreign Department) after Visa is received. Only after these two steps are fulfilled, a Foreign Citizen can apply for the residency at local italian City Hall (Comune).
Note that this Original receipt must show country of provenience and date of residency application (in most of the cases City Hall Officer will have to handwrite and witness these words by putting City Hall Stanp and Signature beside these). The original receipt will be kept by Custom Authorities and will not be returned back to owner).
ORIGINAL TELESPRESSO FORM will enable owner to import under duty free procedure. Will be our care arrange for this form to be properly issued by Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Other Ministry, by dealing and giving proper assistance to consignee.
ORIGINAL TELESPRESSO - MOD. 021 FORM - will enable consignee to import under duty free procedure. In order to obtain this form by Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Embassy in Italy, Press Foreign Agency or World Organization Office must submit the application form. We can also be helpful to fulfill all correct procedures to fully support consignee.
  • Copy of Consignee passport (Main page with picture and Informations)
  • Original duly signed List of Items shipped (Sintetic List is sufficient) - to be drawn up in Italian Language.
  • Copy of Italian Fiscal Code (Codice Fiscale)
Above Items can be imported under Duty Free custom procedure but, as per current Law, an original IMPORT AUTHORIZATION issued by the Telecommunications Department (Direzione Delle Poste e Telecomunicazioni) must be submitted to Customs. Only Multi-System or PAL System Tvs and VCRs can properly run into Italy.Other Systems or Equipments will hardly turn in to workout. A Transformer (110/220V) is necessary for all equipments at 110V. Satellite TVs are popular as well as Cable Tv Network is under developing process. A variety of AM and FM radio channels are available. Most Broadcast are in Italian Language and only a Short-Wave radio will enable listening to Voice of America, the BBC or the Armed Forces Network.
Following Items are strictly forbidden to import: NARCOTICS, NON-BRANDED DRUGS, PHORNOGRAPHIC PUBLICATIONS/TAPES, ALCOHOL, TOBACCOES OR PERFUMES. Fire-Arms can be imported under strict control by Italian Consulates abroad and Italian Police Authorities upon entry into Italy. However Fire-Arms imports are highly expensive and general advice is not to import such Items unless a very good reason to do so really exists. Paintings, Sculpures, Antique Items and all items being of artistic or antiquarian interest can be imported but clearance is subject to inspection by the Italian Fine Art Commission.
